Vibration training (i.e. Whole Body Vibration Training, WBV) is an innovative training method based on nerve and muscle stimulation by means of mechanical vibration. Vibration activates a number of reflex, neurophysiologic mechanisms in the body. Thanks to vibration training one may quickly and easily see the results of training the whole body.
As a mechanical stimulus, vibration stimulates unconditioned (independent of our will) reflexes. The reflexes lead to intensive contractions of the stimulated muscles. In this way – by contracting and changing the degree of muscle tone – muscles work and their strength and endurance increase.
The principle is that the greater the frequency of vibration, the more intensive the work of the muscles. During vibration training up to 100% of muscle fibres are stimulated.
